Dharma Bhava
Ninth House
Father, fortune, religion, higher learning, dharma.
The ninth house — Dharma Bhava — is the most fortunate house in the chart. It governs the father, luck and divine grace, religion and spiritual practice, higher learning and gurus, long-distance travel and pilgrimage, ethics and dharma. As a trikona, the 9th brings auspicious results across the board. Jupiter is the karaka for the father in some Vedic schools and the karaka for dharma generally. A strong 9th lord, well-placed Jupiter, and any planet in the 9th typically all bring fortune. The 9th and 5th together form the dharma-trikona — the most auspicious axis of a chart.
