The eighth house — Ayur Bhava — is a deep dusthana governing longevity (paradoxically), the occult, sudden and unexpected events (death, accidents, scandals, inheritances), the in-laws, joint resources of a marriage, and what is hidden. The 8th has a bad reputation but is also the house of mystical insight, the underworld, and transformation through crisis. Saturn is the karaka for longevity. The classical injunction is that planets in the 8th rarely give comfortable results, but they may give psychic depth, inheritance, or unexpected gain.
